The Pacific Northwest Coastal Ecosystems Regional Study (PNCERS) is a research and outreach program to inform coastal managers and policy makers. PNCERS sponsors studies of the nearshore and estuarine ecosystems and the communities along the Washington and Oregon coasts, examining how human activities have changed estuaries over time. This website illustrates the historical context for these studies, focusing on Grays Harbor and Willapa Bay in Washington and Tillamook, Yaquina Bay, and Coos Bay in Oregon, which are target areas for PNCERS research.
Prepared by Historical Research Associates, Inc. for PNCERS with funding and support from NOAA, Washington Sea Grant, and Oregon Department of Land Conservation and Development.
